Not necessarily. Fully polished points are generally easier to display vertically, while top-polished pieces retain a natural rough base that may be uneven. If stability matters, use a small stand, holder or supportive display material rather than assuming every piece will be freestanding.

Not automatically. Natural gemstones can contain internal inclusions, colour zoning, veins and surface irregularities, while the top-polished style deliberately retains a rougher natural section. Fresh chips, cracks caused by impact or a damaged point should be distinguished from normal mineral characteristics.

For routine dust and fingerprints, start with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid using steam, ultrasonic cleaners or strong chemicals across the whole range, as gemstones differ in toughness, treatments and sensitivity to heat and cleaning methods.

A bright display is fine, but prolonged strong sunlight is best avoided. Some gemstones, including amethyst, can gradually lose colour after extended exposure to intense light, so rotating stock in sunny windows is sensible.

Use shallow, stable trays or individual spaces and avoid displaying points where they can fall onto a hard floor. The pointed ends can be more vulnerable to knocks, so crowded bowls where stones repeatedly hit one another are less suitable for premium pieces.

If you split bulk packs for individual resale, grouping pieces into simple size or quality bands can make pricing easier to understand. Customers generally expect natural variation, but clear labelling helps avoid comparisons between two noticeably different pieces sold as though they were identical.
