Prepare Your Brand Identity
Plan your product presentation, packaging and labels. Review the documentation and requirements specific to each product.
Check Before Selling
Before putting your products on sale, check the labelling, documentation and regulatory obligations applicable to the product and your target market.
Preparing Your Product Labels
Adding your own brand also means checking the labelling requirements applicable to each product and the country where it will be sold. The examples below illustrate different types of information that may appear on a product label.
Cosmetic Products
Cosmetic products include many bath, body, skincare, haircare and personal care products. Cosmetic labelling is subject to specific regulatory requirements.
Depending on the product and market, mandatory label information may include:
- Product identification and function, where necessary
- Nominal content
- Ingredient list using INCI names
- Batch identification
- Minimum durability date or period after opening
- Relevant precautions and warnings
- Responsible Person's contact details, where required
Home Fragrances & Other Products
Essential oils, fragrance oils, room fragrances and other non-cosmetic products may be subject to different classification and labelling rules.
Depending on the product, requirements may include:
- Product identification
- Relevant supplier information
- Applicable CLP hazard information
- Hazard pictograms and signal words, where required
- Relevant precautionary statements
- UFI information where required by regulations
- Other product-specific information
Cosmetic Labels – UK and EU
These AW Artisan examples show cosmetic labelling elements such as ingredient lists, precautions, batch identification, quantity and Responsible Person details. UK and EU requirements are not necessarily identical.
CLP Labels – Candles, Fragrance Oils and Wax Melts
This AW Artisan illustration shows examples of CLP information, including product identification, supplier details, hazard pictograms and statements, UFI where applicable, and nominal quantity. Not every product requires all of these elements.
Documents You May Need
Depending on the exact product, approved customer-facing Safety Data Sheets (SDS), IFRA documentation, allergen declarations, INCI information with concentration ranges or cosmetic Product Information File (PIF) extracts may be available. Full Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs) and complete regulatory PIFs are not routinely shared.
SDS
Safety and hazard information for relevant products.
IFRA
Information on fragrance use according to the relevant application category.
Allergens and INCI
Approved information on allergens and cosmetic ingredients, where available.
Uses standardised names for cosmetic ingredients. Approved information showing concentration ranges may be available where applicable.

Who Is the Responsible Person?
Cosmetic products placed on the EU or UK market must have a Responsible Person established in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework.
Planning to Sell Under Your Own Brand?
Changing the branding or presentation of a cosmetic product may affect regulatory responsibilities. The presence of Ancient Wisdom's name or address on a product does not automatically mean that Ancient Wisdom has agreed to act as the Responsible Person for your own branded business.
To discuss a possible Responsible Person arrangement, please contact our team with the relevant product codes and the country or market where you intend to sell the products. Your request will need to be reviewed before any confirmation can be given.
White Label FAQs
Can I Add My Own Label to an Unlabelled Product?
Products in our white label range are intended for sale under your own brand. However, you must check the requirements applicable to the specific item and target market before selling.
Can Ancient Wisdom Remain the Responsible Person for My Cosmetics?
This is not automatic. Please provide the product codes and intended market so that your proposal can be reviewed.
Does Every Fragrance Oil or Candle Require a UFI?
No. Whether a UFI is required depends on the classification of the mixture concerned and the regulations applicable to the target market.
Can I Use a Fragrance Oil in Candles, Soaps or Diffusers?
Suitability depends on the fragrance oil, its application, concentration and the corresponding IFRA documentation. Contact our team if you are unsure about the intended use.
Can I Request a Full CPSR or PIF?
Full CPSRs and regulatory PIFs are generally not shared with customers. Appropriate confirmation or approved extracts may be available.
What Is a White Label Product?
A white label product is supplied for businesses looking to create their own branded offering. The exact product presentation and applicable requirements depend on the item.
Can I Request a Safety Data Sheet?
Yes, where available. Please provide the exact product code. If you need an SDS in a specific language, contact our team so that your request can be reviewed.
Can I Request IFRA or Allergen Information?
Approved IFRA documentation and allergen declarations may be available for relevant products. Please include the exact product code in your request.
Can I Sell the Same Products Throughout the EU and UK?
Requirements may vary between countries and markets. Documentation or labelling suitable for one market may not necessarily be suitable for another. Always check the requirements applicable to your intended market.
Can I Request the Full Cosmetic Formula?
Exact formulation percentages are generally not disclosed. Approved information showing concentration ranges may be available. Requests involving confidential formulation details are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
